The midheaven is the point of the zodiac that was culminating, at its highest, when you were born. It anchors the tenth house: public life, career arc, reputation, the legacy version of you. Where your rising sign is the face strangers meet, the MC is the name that precedes you into rooms.
Why time and place are required
Like the ascendant, the MC moves through the whole zodiac every day, roughly one degree every four minutes. A wrong birth time gives a wrong MC. It is computed from your local sidereal time, which depends on both the clock and the longitude of your birth place.
